Folic Acid

Both children and adults need folate for the production of healthy, normal red and white blood cells and to prevent anemia.

As well, folate deficiencies are directly associated with infertility and the development of neural tube defects in fetuses. Women planning a pregnancy should make sure they're getting plenty of folic acid -- both through diet AND supplementation!

Folic acid also helps you metabolize protein, and therefore gives you more energy!
